The phenomenon that is Counter Strike has now stepped into the Xbox zone. The game already has a huge fan base and there are some who will play the game even if it does not meet the standards that the old one had built. But if someone who has never played the game before, this version might not be able to make a fan out of him.
Firstly, this version is very uneven and indifferent. You could expect better results from an old PC. Unlike the PC version where you can dictate your moves through the keyboard and mouse combination, here you are stuck trying to manoeuvre yourself using the stick which is less precise.
The game functions well online through Xbox Live and you can invite 10 or more players to play along. The visual of the Xbox version have been retouched but have not been revamped entirely and the overall environment has very simple textures and lighting. The animated characters look nice but are not spectacular.
One of the most standout features of the original Counter Strike was the audio. The sound effects were amazing and gave the game a little something extra. But in the Xbox version, the developers have not even fine tuned the audio and have done nothing in that respect which is a shame.
Although the game fares poorly in comparison to its PC counterpart, if seen as a standalone product, it is still is a very engaging arcade game.
